Shipping & Receiving Forklift Operator

Cascadia Metals is seeking a reliable and safety‑focused Shipping & Receiving Forklift Operator to join our team at our branch in Port Kells, BC. This hands‑on role plays a key part in our daily warehouse and yard operations. You will work closely with the shipping team, warehouse staff, and drivers to ensure materials are handled efficiently, accurately, and safely.

On a typical day you may be unloading incoming trucks or containers, staging material for outbound shipments, operating a forklift, verifying paperwork, and assisting with general yard and warehouse duties.

Responsibilities

Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, move, and stage materials.

Assist with daily shipping and receiving operations.

Verify incoming and outgoing materials against paperwork for accuracy.

Inspect shipments for visible damage and report discrepancies.

Stage and prepare materials for outbound shipments.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard and warehouse environment.

Communicate effectively with shipping coordinators, drivers, and warehouse staff.

Follow all company safety procedures and policies.

Perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Support other departments and assist where needed as workload allows.

Requirements

Valid forklift certification with hands‑on operating experience.

Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.

Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail.

Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions when required.

Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing repetitive tasks.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication skills and a positive, cooperative attitude.

Experience in the steel or metal industry is an asset but not required.
