Long haul truck driver

Responsibilities

• Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
• Load and unload goods.
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
• Perform emergency roadside repairs.
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of vehicle maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance.
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Will train and maintain necessary certifications.

Qualifications

• Air Brakes Endorsement.
• Driver's License (Class 1 or
  
  A).
• Experience with communication systems.
• Experience operating GPS and other navigation equipment.
• Valid driver's licence.
• Willing to travel cross-border, for extended periods and overnight.

Employment Terms

• Permanent position.
• Shift options: early morning, evening, flexible schedule and day/weekend coverage.
• Hours:
  
  40 to 60 hours per week.
