Maths Teacher SEN School (SEMH Needs)
We are seeking a passionate and resilient Maths Teacher to join our dedicated team at a specialist SEN school supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people by helping them build confidence, resilience and academic progress within a supportive and nurturing environment.
The Role
You will deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons to students across KS3 and KS4, many of whom may have additional learning needs, Autism, ADHD, trauma-related behaviours or gaps in education. The successful candidate will be able to build positive relationships, create a calm and structured classroom environment, and support students both academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated Maths lessons tailored to individual learner needs
- Support students with SEMH needs to re-engage positively with education
- Create a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment
- Manage behaviour positively using restorative and trauma-informed approaches
- Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and student reviews
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, pastoral staff and external professionals
- Support students emotional wellbeing alongside academic development
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
- September 2026
- Experience teaching Maths at KS3 and KS4 level
- Experience working within SEN, SEMH or alternative provision settings desirable
- Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
- Patient, adaptable and resilient approach
- Passionate about supporting vulnerable young people to achieve success
- Small class sizes and high levels of classroom support
