Lettings Officer

he Supported Lettings Officer (Procurement) role is based in Peckham with a hybrid working arrangement, requiring at least three full days per week working within the borough, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. The purpose of the role is to procure private rented sector properties for people who have rough slept or are at risk of homelessness, while also providing rapid and intensive support to help them sustain their accommodation.

The officer is responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with landlords, estate and letting agents, and other private sector suppliers, promoting the benefits of working with the Council, and negotiating terms that encourage landlords to let their properties through Council schemes. The role includes inspecting and assessing properties to ensure they meet Housing Act 2004 standards and other health and safety requirements, advising landlords and tenants on Local Housing Allowance rules, benefits, and exemptions, and maintaining accurate databases of landlords, enquiries and property availability.
