Main duties of the job
HCRG Care Group is offering funded SCPHN (Specialist Community Public Health Nursing) training posts starting in January 2027. We are seeking dedicated and dynamic Nurses or Midwives passionate about positively impacting children’s lives and communities in Surrey. Two student posts are available for School Nurse SCPHN training, conducted exclusively through Oxford Brookes University, leading to a Master’s level qualification. The programme combines online distance learning (2 days per week) and supervised practice placements (3 days per week) to develop both academic and clinical skills.
Upon successful completion, graduates will be registered as SCPHN and can apply for Band 6 School Nurse roles.
Essential:
- Registered with the NMC as a Nurse or Midwife
- UK resident
- Demonstrate either: achievement of an undergraduate degree OR completion of a Diploma in Nursing
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Completion of a recent Level 6 (or above) module
- Support school‑age children and young people to achieve their health and wellbeing potential.
- Apply theoretical knowledge to practice placements to develop high‑quality, evidence‑based assessment and care.
- Safeguard and protect children, young people and vulnerable adults.
- Travel across Surrey to meet both educational and clinical requirements of the course.

All appointments are subject to a safer recruitment process, including disclosure of criminal records and vetting checks, in line with our safeguarding policies. Candidates must be available to start in January 2027 and have not already completed the SCPHN course. A group assessment day and interview will be held Monday 27 July 2026 in Guildford.
