The role You will provide essential technical support for both research and teaching in the School of Mathematics and Physics. You ll play a key role in the operation, maintenance and development of facilities in the Soft Matter Physics laboratories, collaborating closely with academic and technical colleagues to deliver an exceptional experience for our students. The group s experimental research spans research at the interface with biology - biological-physics, bio nanotechnology and synthetic biology - experimental soft matter physics with a sustainability focus.

About you

Experience of working in a physics laboratory or relevant similar experience. A good communicator, working well as part of a team but also able to work independently, managing their own time and priorities An understanding of relevant Health & Safety matters and requirements Good organisational skills, particularly when working in a laboratory Some experience of handling chemical and biological agents Some experience of handling cryogens and gases Willingness and aptitude to broaden skills to cover for technical colleagues in their specialist areas during periods of absence.

Manual handling is an essential part of the role, and candidates should be able to participate in manual handling activities and for access to the laboratories
