Special Needs / Learning Disabilities, School Counselor
I am currently recruiting for a range of specialist SEND and SEMH teaching roles across East Sussex
, working with schools that require experienced, reflective and emotionally aware practitioners.
These settings support pupils who may not thrive within mainstream provision and who require teachers capable of balancing curriculum delivery with emotional regulation and behavioural consistency.
This is not traditional classroom teaching. It is education that requires adaptability, clarity and relational strength.
Teaching opportunities may include:- Small class teaching within SEMH settings
- Adapted curriculum delivery
- Collaborative planning with pastoral and support teams
- Structured behaviour management frameworks
- Teaching pupils with complex emotional needs
- Long‑term and ongoing placements
These schools value teachers who prioritise relationships and regulation alongside academic progress.
You may be well suited if you:- Hold QTS or are working towards it
- Have experience within SEND, SEMH or alternative provision
- Remain calm, reflective and consistent
- See behaviour as a form of communication
- Are committed to working within specialist settings long-term
Mainstream teachers seeking a purposeful transition into SEND are welcome, provided they demonstrate the appropriate mindset and resilience.
Benefits and support:- Access to multiple specialist SEND teaching opportunities
- Honest discussions about school culture and expectations
- Opportunities aligned with your strengths and professional goals
- Roles that prioritise depth over pace
- Roles across East Sussex
- Immediate and upcoming vacancies
- Teaching roles paid to scale
- A child‑only DBS is mandatory. If you do not currently hold one, you will be required to apply and pay for a DBS and place it on the Update Service. Full support is provided to guide you through the process.
If you are an experienced or aspiring SEND teacher looking for serious, specialist work, I would welcome a conversation.
