Overview

We are keen to attract Clinical Support Workers who are looking for a fast‑paced and ever‑changing environment. Our Emergency Departments are extremely busy; you will care for different groups of patients in Majors, Minors, Resus, Triage and the Clinical Decision Unit (CDU). We pride ourselves on having an integrated, friendly and welcoming team.

• Insertion and removal of cannula
• Venepuncture
• Wound assessment and simple dressings
• Toileting assistance
• Providing basic nursing care
• Undertaking ECGs and observations
• General support of the emergency department team
• Working under induction, supervision and supernumerary time

Experience in a hospital setting is desirable but not essential.

• Minimum of GCSE English and Maths grade C or 4 or equivalent functional skill status
• Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 in health and social care or the willingness to work towards this
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, using initiative and effective interpersonal and communication skills

Training and a period of supervision and supernumerary time will be given on induction.

Some CSWs go on to further develop and undertake the Trainee Nursing Associate (TNA) programme to qualify as a Registered Nursing Associate (RNA). A Practice Educator within the Emergency Department will support your learning and development, and you will be allocated to a team led by one of the department’s matrons. We run regular training days for your development.
