Providing support and assistance to individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deafblind in the East Sussex area. They offer a range of services including advice, communication support, and equipment provision to help people overcome the barriers they face due to their hearing loss.
About this opportunityEvents Volunteers represents East Sussex Hearing when getting the word out to members of the public about who they are and the important work they do. They provide a friendly and helpful presence at local events, handing out flyers or engaging in chats to signpost what services are offered for example, as well as advice about hearing loss.
You’ll also be helping to promote events by word of mouth and distributing materials, and assisting with setting up for events (such as a gazebo, table etc).
Travel expenses are paid, and volunteers are welcome to take British Sign Language and lipreading classes for free.
Full training will be provided.
This position is dependent upon your availability, will take place usually on weekdays, though weekends may be optional, and is a commitment or 2-10 hours a month.
