Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic class teacher to join our friendly and supportive teaching team. Visits to the school are warmly encouraged; please call the school office on  to make an appointment.

Main responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching using effective resources, ensuring all pupils achieve the National Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Plan to meet the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs and support developing Education and Health Care plans in collaboration with the Deputy Head – Inclusion.
• Use informed planning and varied teaching strategies to keep pupils engaged through creative, challenging, and differentiated activities, effective questioning, and lively presentation.
• Set high expectations for pupil behaviour, maintain discipline standards, and manage inappropriate behaviour within the school’s Behaviour Management and Anti‑Bullying Policies.
• Contribute to and implement the Tweeddale Development Plan.
• Lead a curriculum area (where applicable) to ensure effective delivery, progression and assessment, raising subject standards across the school.

You will need

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Recent, relevant experience at primary level, including placements for Early Career Teachers where applicable.
• An inclusive teaching philosophy for children with SEN.
• Experience with a range of assessment‑for‑learning methods and their purposes.
• High standards for teaching and learning.
• Strong relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
