Attendance Officer – Sutton
Education First | Sutton | £150 per day | Maternity Cover | Secondary School
Education First is looking for an organised, proactive and experienced Attendance Officer to join a secondary school in Sutton.
This is a full-time maternity cover position, offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced school administrator or attendance professional to join a busy school environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role in monitoring and improving pupil attendance, working closely with pupils, parents, carers and school staff.
The Role- Monitoring daily pupil attendance and absence
- Following up on unexplained and persistent absences
- Contacting parents and carers regarding attendance concerns
- Maintaining accurate attendance records
- Identifying patterns and trends in pupil attendance
- Working closely with pastoral and safeguarding teams
- Supporting attendance improvement strategies
- Preparing attendance information and reports
- Communicating with pupils regarding attendance
- Maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Following school attendance, safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Previous experience in a school or education setting
- Experience working in attendance, administration or pastoral support
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to communicate confidently with parents and carers
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to manage confidential information appropriately
- A proactive and professional approach
- A commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
- The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
Previous experience as an Attendance Officer within a secondary school would be desirable.
