EAL Learning Support Assistant – Carshalton

We are seeking an experienced and committed EAL Learning Support Assistant to support students with English as an Additional Language within a secondary school in Carshalton. Working alongside the EAL Learning Co-ordinator and wider teaching team, you will help students develop their English language skills and access the curriculum effectively.

• Earn £25,000 and work term-time only
• Gain valuable experience supporting EAL students across a diverse secondary school environment.
• Work closely with the EAL Learning Co-ordinator and teaching staff to support student progress.
• Access ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
• Make a direct impact on students' confidence, English language development and access to the curriculum.
• Help students celebrate and share their own culture and heritage.

• Deliver lessons and interventions for individuals and small groups alongside the EAL Learning Co-ordinator.
• Develop strategies to improve students' English language skills and attainment.
• Adapt curriculum materials and provide reader, scribe, translation and interpreting support.
• Support homework and extra-support clubs, extended school activities and educational visits.
• Assist with EAL assessments, learning plans and documentation.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
• Build positive relationships and support students' confidence, inclusion and wellbeing.

• Experience supporting students with EAL within a learning environment.
• A degree in MFL, Linguistics or a related subject is desirable
  , alongside another language.
• Excellent literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
• Understanding of learning, child development and behaviour.
• Patient, organised and self-motivated, with strong professional integrity.
