Imperium designs and delivers Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS) for high-end residential and complex building environments. Once a system is handed over, we stay accountable for keeping it stable, efficient and supportable, and that’s where you come in.
As a BEMS Service & Maintenance Engineer, you’ll look after live customer systems post-handover: planned maintenance, reactive fault response, optimisation, and small improvement works. You’ll work across varied BMS systems, interacting with panels, networks, field devices and building plant, and you’ll leave sites better than you found them.
What you’ll be doing- Deliver planned maintenance visits: system health checks, alarms, schedules, trend reviews, backups, and reporting
- Diagnose faults and restore service across software, wiring/panels, devices, comms networks and plant interfaces
- Use trend data and building behaviour to improve stability, comfort, and energy performance
- Produce clear service reports and maintain accurate “as maintained” documentation and backups
- Communicate clearly with clients and facilities teams, setting expectations and keeping people informed
- Identify lifecycle improvement opportunities (repairs, upgrades, enhancements) and explain the value clearly
- Proven BEMS service/fault-finding capability in live environments
- Experience with Trend and/or Tridium Niagara
- Strong knowledge of HVAC controls concepts (interlocks, sequences, sensors/actuators, control loops)
- Confidence troubleshooting comms and integrations (BACnet/Modbus experience helpful)
- Clear communication and calm problem-solving under pressure
- Strong documentation habits: reports, backups, and traceable records
- Right to work in the UK
- DBS checks may be required
- Experience delivering optimisation / seasonal commissioning visits
- Networking familiarity (Ethernet, RS485, MS/TP basics; addressing and segmentation concepts)
- Experience producing O&M-quality service documentation
- Travel:
London & South East (regular site visits) - Hours:
Core 09:00–17:30; occasional early/late work for critical faults or planned outages - Environment:
Plant rooms, ladders, occasional lifting up to ~15kg; reasonable adjustments considered - Driving:
Typically required (pool vehicles/alternatives where workable)
You’ll join a team that cares about quality, clarity, and building things that work. The work is varied, technical, and customer-facing — ideal if you like problem-solving and want to be trusted with real ownership of outcomes.
