The Diabetes Service for Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust are seeking an enthusiastic Diabetes Specialist Nurse to work alongside our clinical and administrative team to provide multi aspects of diabetes patient care.
Main duties of the jobThis is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our progressive and friendly Diabetes team.
The successful applicant must have prior experience in caring for people with diabetes. You must be self‑motivating, organised, computer literate and able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with a commitment to continued personal development.
The successful candidate would be expected to work within the team of diabetes specialist nurses providing care for in‑patients and outpatients.
You will be joining our well‑established and expanding team, which offers a range of diabetes specialist services including Continuous Glucose Monitoring, insulin pump services, structured education courses (BERTIE), MDT foot services, Young Person clinics and diabetes antenatal clinics.
Our team consists of diabetes specialist nurses, diabetes specialist dietitians, the specialist psychologist, diabetes podiatrists and diabetes consultants.
You will be working closely with the community diabetes services.
The diabetes in‑patient service continues to expand in line with the increasing number of people with diabetes.
An interest in inpatient diabetes care and management is essential for this post. The role will also include delivering education sessions to ward nurses and healthcare assistants and liaising with the multidisciplinary team to ensure timely and safe discharge for patients with diabetes.

Person Specification Qualifications- Relevant Diabetes Course
- Non‑Medical Prescribing
- 2 years experience working at Band 6 level
- Audit & Research experience
- Experience of working autonomously
- In depth knowledge of current practice
- Quality improvement projects
Clinical Supervision - Budgetary awareness
