Locum Consultant in Symptomatic Breast Radiology

Full time Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist to participate in symptomatic breast radiology on any Hospital sites within UHB. The base sites will be at the Goodhope and Solihull hospital site.
The successful applicant will be expected to join our team of enthusiastic consultants to contribute to the increasing workload of the department which has been driven upwards by a combination of service expansion, cancer pathway driven targets and multidisciplinary meeting attendance. The post holder is expected to support the training of SpRs and fellows.
The successful applicant will be expected to have completed specialist training in Clinical Radiology by the time of taking up the post.
The Successful candidate should have experience in running a Fast track breast clinic independently and performing various Tomo and ultrasound guided procedures. The applicant will also participate in the breast MDT.
Main duties of the job- Mammography including Tomosynthesis Reporting
- Image-guided biopsies
- MRI reporting
- Staging CT scans reporting
- 2nd line Vacuum Assisted Excisions
- Stereotactic and US guided wire localisations
- Breast MDM presentations

Leadership & Governance:
- Ensures service delivery by the department is within the resources available.
- Helps manage demand and prioritises on the basis of need imaging services as required.
- Demonstrates excellence in patient quality care.
- To cover for radiologists as required during time of leave in order to maintain a good service.
Interpersonal and Communication
Skills:
- The post holder must be willing to join an established collaborative department which involves working closely with radiological colleagues to provide a comprehensive and cohesive service.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of imaging service by applying the latest evidence and delivering high quality patient care.
- Have excellent radiology report writing skills and be able to communicate effectively with clinical colleagues. To develop and maintain effective networks within the region enabling best practice to be identified and implemented by the Trust.
- The post holder must have well-developed listening and communication skills and be able to interact effectively with a wide range of clinicians, managers and professionals both within and outside the Trust.
Planning and organising:
- Be willing to be involved with and implement a comprehensive Breast imaging service including multiple modalities.
- Contribute to the discussion on the future development of general imaging services within the department.
- Support the development of a culture of continuous improvement.
- Effectively plan, communicate and execute changes ensuring engagement and involvement.
- Support the department in achieving its financial and performance targets.
Administrative support:
- Office space and shared administrative support will be provided.
