Controls / Automation Engineer Birmingham | £50,000–£70,000 | Permanent | Days
We’re looking for a Controls / Automation Engineer to join a growing, highly automated manufacturing operation that has recently moved from NPI into high-volume production
.
This is a fast-paced environment with extensive PLC, robotics, sensors, motion control, inspection and automated handling
.
The Role You’ll be hands‑on, supporting the equipment, resolving faults and driving continuous improvement.
You’ll work across:
- PLC programming, fault-finding & modifications
- HMI, sensors, servo and motion systems
- Robotics and automated equipment
- Commissioning and optimisation
- Root‑cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Improving reliability, throughput and OEE
We’re open to experience across any major PLC platform
, including Beckhoff, Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi
.
You’ll need strong practical Controls / Automation experience and be comfortable getting into the PLC logic rather than simply identifying faults.
Experience in high-volume manufacturing, automotive, plastics or FMCG would be advantageous.
