Location:

West Midlands – Birmingham / Coventry / Telford and surrounding areas
Salary: £32,000 – £36,000 basic + overtime – OTE circa £40,000

Hours:

Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

We are recruiting for an experienced  Field Service Engineer  to join a leading material handling business covering the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a  plant, heavy equipment or hydraulic engineering background  who is looking to move into the material handling industry.

You do NOT need previous forklift experience.  Full product training can be provided; however, previous hands-on experience working with  hydraulic systems is essential .

The business is particularly interested in engineers who have worked on equipment such as  excavators, diggers, cranes, rollers, sweepers, access equipment, agricultural machinery, specialist HGVs or other hydraulically operated plant and machinery .

Field Service Engineer responsibilities  Service, maintain and repair material handling equipment at customer sites.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing.
Attend breakdowns and complete effective fault finding and repairs.
Work confidently with hydraulic systems and components.
Complete inspections and identify additional repair requirements.
Ensure equipment is maintained to a high standard and returned to service efficiently.
Accurately complete job sheets and service documentation.
Provide a professional and customer-focused service while working in the field.
Maintain the company van, tools and equipment supplied.
Field Service Engineer requirements  Previous experience within  plant, heavy machinery, agricultural, access, crane, specialist vehicle or a similar engineering environment .
Hands-on hydraulic experience is essential.
Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
Electrical diagnostic experience would be advantageous.
Experience working on forklifts or material handling equipment is  not essential .
Engineers from plant backgrounds including excavators, diggers, cranes, rollers and sweepers are strongly encouraged to apply.
Relevant mechanical/engineering qualification would be advantageous.
Ability to work independently in a mobile  Field Service Engineer  position.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Full UK driving licence.
About the opportunity This  Field Service Engineer  role offers the chance to take your existing plant and hydraulic experience into a different sector without needing to already be a forklift specialist.

You will receive training on the company's equipment and products, allowing you to develop your knowledge of material handling machinery while building on the mechanical and hydraulic skills you already have.
