Are you an experienced Automation Integration Engineer, Manufacturing Project Manager or Industrialisation Specialist with a track record of delivering complex automated production systems?
My client is seeking a high-calibre contractor to support the integration, commissioning and optimisation of a major new production line.
This is a critical project within a growing £200m manufacturing group and offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on production performance, automation capability and operational excellence.
The ProjectA semi-automated production process is currently in operation, while a fully automated production line is being installed and commissioned. The challenge is to improve process capability, increase yield, achieve stable production output and optimise overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
You will act as the technical lead for the integration of the production line, working closely with machine builders, suppliers, maintenance teams and manufacturing operations to deliver a world-class automated manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the integration and commissioning of complex automated assembly and packaging systems.
- Manage relationships with automation suppliers, machine builders and system integrators.
- Drive process optimisation activities to improve throughput, yield and machine performance.
- Support the achievement of target output rates of 120-150 parts per minute.
- Develop and implement structured fault-finding and root cause analysis activities.
- Work closely with maintenance teams to develop TPM schedules and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Lead commissioning trials and report project progress to key stakeholders.
- Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with a target exceeding 90%.
- Support Process FMEA development, control plans and manufacturing documentation.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives across production and engineering functions.
- Develop and monitor KPIs relating to quality, process performance and production efficiency.
- Present technical updates and project reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale automated manufacturing projects.
- Strong background in automation integration, commissioning and industrialisation.
- Experience with in automotive, FMCG, food manufacturing, aerospace or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
- Excellent technical problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities.
- Demonstrable experience improving OEE, process capability and manufacturing performance.
- Strong stakeholder and supplier management skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and contractors.
- Hands‑on engineering approach with the ability to lead from the front.
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline.
