Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Breast Care Nurse Specialist is a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary Breast Service Team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Trust. The role combines advanced clinical expertise with leadership, care coordination, and advocacy skills to support patients diagnosed with both malignant and non‑malignant breast conditions.
Key responsibilitiesDeliver specialist assessments, nurse‑led clinics, education, counselling, and psychosocial support. Provide evidence‑based, holistic, patient‑centred care throughout every stage of the treatment and recovery pathway. Contribute to service improvement, clinical governance, education, and ongoing development of high‑quality breast care services in line with national standards and best practice.
Knowledge & experience requirements- Experience in NHS hospital setting.
- Team player.
- Ability to manage a caseload.
- Strong written, verbal, and IT skills.
- Knowledge of audit methodologies.
- Experience in the breast speciality, particularly breast reconstruction.
- Clinical teaching practice.
- Publication record and membership of professional groups.
- NMC Level One Registered Nurse.
- Degree level education related to cancer or equivalent.
- Cancer nursing qualification.
- Teaching/mentorship experience.
- ENB A11 or equivalent.
- Independent and supplementary nurse prescribing.
- Master’s degree or working towards one.
- Counselling skills.
- 37.5 hours per week.
- Flexible approach to work.
- Should be prepared to travel between hospital sites.
Post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A submission to the Disclosure and Barring Service is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary£49,387 to £56,515 a year pro rata per annum.
