Service Desk Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team. As a dedicated Service Desk Technician, you will be the first point of contact for all IT-related incidents and service requests, performing remote troubleshooting and determining appropriate solutions based on information collected from customers. Excellent customer service and good IT technical skills are required, with a goal of resolving incidents at the first point of contact and meeting service levels and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate will work a regular shift pattern and provide out of hours support (via an on‑call rota) to ensure support is available to NHS organisations 24/7, including bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Perform remote troubleshooting for IT incidents and service requests.

Accurately capture and handle all calls, aiming for first‑time resolution.

Maintain service levels and targets, and contribute to continuous service delivery.

Person Specification
  • Further Training:
    Microsoft Office Applications, Microsoft NT Server Admin, Microsoft Exchange
  • Experience:

    Supporting a large user base, excellent communication and time management skills, supervisory skills, customer service environment, familiarity with an IT support environment, knowledge of various database languages
  • Qualifications:

    Computer or business‑orientated qualification or equivalent experience, ECDL or equivalent, ITIL Qualification
  • Knowledge:
    Basic understanding of the IT function, understanding of data quality requirements, excellent knowledge of Microsoft desktop packages, good level of education and advanced keyboard skills, understanding of the business goals of the organisation, extensive knowledge of NHS information flows and business requirements
  • Contractual Requirements:
    Participate in the on‑call rota
