As part of our dedicated housing provision for 16‑24 year olds based in Sutton in Ashfield and Mansfield, YMCA Robin Hood Group are looking for responsible, trustworthy and compassionate people to join our Support Housing team to oversee the smooth running of our building and give our residents all the support and care they require. This is your opportunity to be part of this from the very beginning.
Our Housing Duty Workers are at the heart and soul of our housing team; they are the first person most residents come into contact with. You will support them with anything they need and oversee the smooth running of the building.
Responsibilities- Being there to provide advice and assistance.
- Providing keys or replacements where needed.
- Collecting rent payments and dealing with queries or charges relating to rent payments.
- Ensuring residents understand their tenant obligations and rights as outlined in the License Agreement.
- Taking payments.
- Providing first aid.
- Responding to fire alarms.
- Acting as a first point of call when dealing with incidents, including liaising with police and other agencies to prevent damage or harm to residents and buildings.
- Managing crisis and reporting incidents.
- Undertaking facilities/domestic duties to maintain the upkeep of the building.
- Supporting applications from prospective residents, helping with form filling and signposting other agencies that may be able to help.
Shift patterns are fully accessible by public transport:
- Friday – 11 pm – 11 am
- Saturday – 11 pm – 11 am
- Ideal candidates have experience or are interested in gaining experience working in supported housing with vulnerable adults and young people aged 16‑24.
- Understanding the needs of young people (aged 16‑25) who may have drug, alcohol or other issues.
- Confidence to deal with difficult situations and handle conflict appropriately.
- Experience or desire to learn skills for social work, youth work, housing, drug and alcohol services, rehabilitation services, sociology, security and more.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, use initiative, work alone and as part of a team.
- Response to emergencies quickly and effectively.
- Skill in dealing with conflict, managing aggressive behaviour and diffusing situations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to talk to people of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Capacity to form and maintain professional relationships, acting as a role model for residents.
