Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections and follow-up repairs on light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, braking, cooling systems, starters/alternators, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, and more.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate the company-issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre-/post-trip inspections.
  • Communicate with clients to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve issues, and meet expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritize work activities and time allocations effectively.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload photos of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using a company-issued iOS device and TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work independently and manage daily schedule with high productivity, aiming to meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health and environmental policies and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED and up to 2 years’ related experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Participate in and complete all required company training.
  • This position follows DOT FMCSA regulations; candidate must complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • A current and valid DOT medical card may be submitted in lieu of a DOT physical; if four months or less remain, a DOT physical is required.
  • Interstate operating authority requires candidates be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license required and candidate must maintain a Driver Qualification File.
Required Certifications (within 18 months)
  • ASE T8 (PMI) certification
Preferred Certifications
  • ASE T4 (Brakes) certification
Skills & Abilities
  • Understand the implications of new information for problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods; perform moderately heavy labor.
  • Ability to work physically for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Effective two-way communication; convey information succinctly and clearly.
  • Determine appropriate tools and equipment for tasks.
  • Ability to assess distances and spatial relationships between objects.
