Primary Responsibilities

Plan for appropriate learning experiences based on the district AKS curriculum and provide an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students.

Demonstrate command of school subject; develop and prioritize instructional objectives; identify prerequisites; plan instruction; analyze student work; prepare written lesson plans; plan assessments.

Evaluate, select, and modify resources and activities; review resources; match materials to AKS and learner needs.

Provide initial focus for the lesson; communicate specific learning objectives; connect lesson content to prior knowledge and real-world application; capture student attention through active involvement.

Organize content for presentation; present information logically; structure content into blocks or steps based on student needs and material complexity; follow research-based organization (anticipatory set, acquisition, guided practice, independent practice, and summarizing).

Utilize scientifically researched instructional strategies; assess student learning; provide feedback; offer collaborative and distributed practice; teach content vocabulary; use nonverbal/visual representations; teach students to summarize learning; integrate literacy across content areas; leverage technology; utilize inquiry-based problem-solving; set personal learning goals; compare and contrast knowledge.

Provide formative assessment to measure progress toward AKS; monitor progress; adjust instructional plans; provide criteria for self-measurement.

Provide summative assessment; assess learning; maintain records; communicate results; use results to plan subsequent instruction.

Organize learning environment to maximize time on task; manage transitions; maintain an orderly system for duties, attendance, materials, and assignments.

Maintain behavior conducive to learning; define and communicate expectations; monitor and address behavior; foster respectful environment; encourage participation.

Participate in professional growth and professional learning activities; apply new knowledge to instruction; demonstrate progress toward goals.

Maintain professional responsibilities and act as a role model; ensure clear substitute plans; maintain attendance; communicate with stakeholders.

Perform other duties as assigned.
