Overview
Project Leader 1 - MEP Construction is responsible for supporting the overall strategy, execution of deliverables, project completion, and profitable outcomes for a significantly complex project and/or multiple projects simultaneously. This role requires proficient understanding of prime or general contracting with experience overseeing Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Structural systems where preferred.
Position Responsibilities- A Project Manager in the construction business plays a pivotal role in ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and successfully.
- Key responsibilities include project planning and scheduling, budget management, team coordination and leadership, quality control and compliance, risk management, client and stakeholder communication, procurement and resource management, problem-solving, documentation and reporting, and safety management.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and schedules; ensure resources, manpower, and materials are allocated effectively.
- Prepare and manage project budgets; monitor expenditures to keep projects within financial constraints.
- Oversee teams of contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and staff; promote collaboration and alignment with project goals.
- Conduct regular inspections to maintain high-quality standards and ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies; address issues promptly to minimize delays or additional costs.
- Serve as main point of contact for clients and stakeholders; provide regular updates and manage expectations.
- Oversee procurement of materials, tools, and equipment; ensure timely delivery to the site.
- Handle unexpected challenges, adapt plans to maintain progress without compromising quality or safety.
- Maintain accurate records of project activities, financials, and progress; prepare detailed reports for stakeholders.
- Implement and enforce on-site safety protocols.
Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or Physics with 7+ years experience or 5+ years with an MS in Engineering degree.
Qualifications- Supervise Construction Project Managers and perform PM duties on construction projects; extensive project management experience managing teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with up-front involvement with engineering firms, the client, and General Contractors.
- Proven track record of successful projects involving multi-discipline knowledge (e.g., Fire Alarm, Communications, Security, AV, Power, Instrumentation).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to direct cross-functional teams to meet business objectives.
- Able to work in a diverse environment with personnel from varied backgrounds.
- Strong analytical thinking and leadership/coaching abilities; capable of facilitating change and long-term planning.
