PositionJob Title: Data Center Technician
Reports to: Data Center Manager
Location: Suwanee, GA
We are seeking a Data Center Technician who will be responsible for all racking, stacking, cabling, and labeling, connection and documentation of all equipment in the data center. Additionally, this person will be responsible for working with the other teams to get equipment configured, troubleshooting and replacing damaged equipment.
Responsibilities- Rack equipment in the data center
- Cable equipment in the data center
- Label equipment in the data center
- Maintain inventory of spare parts in the data center
- Document equipment in the data center
- Work within VMWare to perform daily administrative and troubleshooting tasks
- Work with other members of the cloud team to perform troubleshooting and configuration of data center equipment to include things like switches, storage servers, compute servers, cabling and BDR servers
- Participate in on-call/after hours support rotation which can include weekends
- Participate in strategy and consulting meetings on technical matters – internal and external – for company and client interests
- Administrative tasks such as ensure proper recording, documentation, and closure of work tickets, including time entries
- Maintain and update internal technical documentation of both company and clients
- Preserve and grow knowledge of support procedures, products and services
- Recommend procedure modifications or improvements
- Utilize excellent customer service skills and exceed customer expectations
- Maintain company provided tools and test equipment and ensures proper calibration and working order
- Follow company processes and adhere to company standards
- Maintain and meet applicable regulatory requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
- B.S. degree in related field, or equivalent experience
- 2 years+ experience working in a data center environment
- 3 years’ experience working with VMWare to include installation, configuration, troubleshooting
- Certifications Network+ or higher required
- One of the following (required): VCP-DCV, VCP-CMA, VCP-DTM
- Advanced broad range technical troubleshooting and issue resolution skills and experience:
- Hardware: pc hardware, macs, printers, scanners, computer peripherals, mobile devices, servers
- Software:
Windows PC OS and Server OS, VMWare, MS Office products, Mac OS - Knowledge of, and experience with the following technologies: VMWare, Disaster recovery, networking & switch configuration, Disaster recover, Microsoft Windows Server experience
- Ability to communicate technical information, both verbal and written to a wide range of user
- Customer service oriented
- Demonstrated success with multi-tasking and the ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment while maintaining a clear focus on all priorities
- Experience working in a fast paced, friendly, and team orientated environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong organization skills and acute attention to detail
- Enjoys working with people to solve problems and learn new things
- Must have a reliable personal vehicle
The Data Center Technician position usually works regular business hours but may be required to work additional hours to meet requirements. This position generally works in an office setting environment.
Physical requirements- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
