Qualifications
  • License and Certification: Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Law Enforcement certification, pass a criminal history, psychological, and polygraph test, and hold a valid Georgia driver's license.
  • Education: Associates degree in a related field required or to be obtained within three years of hire.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years law enforcement experience required.
  • Skills: Effective communication, active listening, ability to work with youth and educators, and ability to teach courses related to law enforcement and safety.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist school administration: Provide a safe environment, resources, and training for security matters.
  • Act as liaison: Coordinate with law enforcement, develop communication networks, and serve as a role model.
  • Knowledge of procedures: Handle subpoenas, interviews, and arrests within schools.
  • Juvenile delinquency prevention: Promote positive relationships between youth and law enforcement.
  • Law enforcement actions: Respond to intrusions and emergencies.
  • Safety planning: Assist in developing and conducting safety assessments and emergency drills.
  • Consultations: Provide guidance on law enforcement measures and assist students, parents, and staff.
  • Documentation: Maintain case files and report abuse or neglect.
  • Other duties: Perform additional tasks as assigned.
    • Physical Demands

    Requires standing, walking, climbing, running, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, handling, reaching, and visual acuity. Must maintain physical standards for emergency response, suspect restraint, and lifting up to 100 pounds. Operation of a motor vehicle required. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for disabilities.
