About the role:
justteachers are working in partnership with a supportive and nurturing SEN School in Swaffham who are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis from September.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a compassionate individual who is passionate about supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs. The successful candidate will work closely with students across a range of age groups, providing tailored support both in and out of the classroom to help them achieve their individual learning and development goals.
The school is committed to creating an inclusive, positive, and engaging environment where every student is encouraged to succeed. This role would suit someone with previous SEN experience or an individual looking to build a career within specialist education.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs
- Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in school life
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to deliver personalised learning support
- Support students with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
- Implement individual education and behaviour support plans where required
- Promote positive behaviour and support the school’s inclusive ethos
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
- Contribute to the wider school community and support enrichment activities where appropriate
Pre-requisites:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally within an SEN or educational setting
- Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or other additional needs is desirable
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively with school staff
- The ability to build positive relationships and act as a positive role model
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- A genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
- Two recent professional references
