Description

Responsible for assisting the physician and office nurse in answering the telephone, scheduling appointments, receiving patients and completing the patient encounter as per office specifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma and Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited institution. Must be computer literate with previous experience in a clinical setting or other relevant experience. Good customer service skills and the ability to adapt to changing needs of the department.

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a medical assistant.

Physical and Mental Demands
  • Ability to think and work effectively under stress, maintain alertness, decision making, adjust posture and move, walk, bend, lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess the ability to use prosthetics that enable these tasks adequately.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the assigned responsibilities.
  • External and internal applicants who become disabled must be accommodated.
  • Position has a minimal expectation of the ability to accurately perform duties to the level of competency in a small office setting.
  • Work effectively with the physician and nurse to provide patient care and administrative support.
  • Must maintain accurate medical records, complete paperwork, manage office supplies, and interact with patients in a friendly manner.
  • Handle confidential information in compliance with all privacy laws.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments, tests, and procedures.
  • Maintain medical equipment and assist in handling various instruments.
  • Follow the physician’s instructions and protocol for use of medication and supplies.
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures as directed.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms.
  • Ensure all patient documentation is entered accurately into the clinic system.
  • Assist with patient intake and registration.
  • Assist with billing and coding as required.
  • Participate in continuing education and staff development as required.
