Universal Banker II – Salem Five Bank
Salem Five is an independent regional bank with a history of over 160 years. We serve communities across Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk and Suffolk counties through more than 30 retail branches, and offer robust business banking, insurance, wealth management, and mortgage capabilities.
Key Responsibilities- Business Development
- Identify sales opportunities, deepen existing relationships, and grow Salem Five’s market share.
- Collaborate with branch management and internal partners to uncover needs and make referrals for business loans, merchant services, insurance, and investment products.
- Engage in defined sales activities including uncovering customer needs, offering solutions, closing business, onboarding, follow‑up, outbound calling, and recording each customer interaction in the Bank’s system of record.
- Participate in team meetings, contribute toward branch sales goals, engage in divisional campaigns, and celebrate team successes.
- Customer Experience
- Deliver an exceptional customer experience every time by making a personal connection, uncovering financial needs, making educated product recommendations, and providing solutions that meet customer needs.
- Business Acumen and Technical Knowledge
- Understand banking operations, income and expense streams, and product portfolios.
- Quickly learn all product functionalities and benefits offered by the Bank.
- Build relationships and alliances with customers and colleagues.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Salem Five’s digital technology offerings, mobile apps, desktop applications (MS Office), and internet use.
- Embrace new and emerging technologies.
- Banking Operations
- Adhere to all policies related to branch operations, including check cashing, deposit taking, settlements, account opening, debit card issuance, vault and ATM management, and compliance requirements.
- Perform both sales and teller functions, developing full working knowledge of traditional sales and teller responsibilities.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum two years of retail or banking experience. Supervisory experience is preferred. This position is eligible to serve as a key‑holder and manager on duty in the absence of a manager or assistant manager. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and developing junior branch staff, serving as a trainer and coach.
All Universal Bankers must be federally registered through the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and maintain an individual record in good standing.
Physical DemandsEmployee will regularly talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision.

$45,000 – $60,000 plus incentive.
