We are recruiting on behalf of a growing infrastructure and construction contractor that delivers projects across the utilities, social housing, refurbishment, retrofit, and infrastructure sectors.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint two Lead Quantity Surveyors to join their expanding pre-construction commercial team. These are key positions offering the opportunity to lead commercial activities from tender stage through to project mobilisation while managing a small team of Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
The Role
As a Lead Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the pre-construction commercial function, ensuring robust cost planning, financial governance, and commercial reporting across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the pre-construction commercial function across multiple projects.
Managing budgets, cost plans, forecasts, and the CVR process.
Supporting bids and tenders with commercially robust submissions.
Leading value engineering and cost optimisation exercises.
Developing procurement strategies and engaging with the supply chain.
Identifying commercial risks and opportunities while protecting project margins.
Managing and mentoring Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
Working closely with estimating, design, operational teams, and senior stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
About You
You'll have:
Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a pre-construction or estimating environment.
Strong knowledge of CVRs, cost planning, budgeting, and commercial reporting.
Experience leading or mentoring junior commercial staff.
Excellent commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with in main contracting, social housing, refurbishment, utilities, retrofit, or infrastructure would be highly advantageous.
