Salary Range: $69,891.00 To $91,000.00 Annually

Bay Coast Mortgage Company is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented mortgage professional who thrives in a fast-paced lending environment and is passionate about making sound credit decisions while delivering exceptional service. This is more than a traditional underwriting role. We are looking for a knowledgeable underwriter with strong analytical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to manage a diverse pipeline of residential mortgage products while balancing risk management and service excellence.

• Underwrite and approve residential mortgage loans within delegated authority while maintaining an active pipeline.
• Evaluate borrower income, assets, credit, collateral, and overall eligibility to render prudent credit decisions.
• Handle a variety of loan products including conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, portfolio, self-employed borrower, construction, and renovation loans.
• Review and clear underwriting conditions to support established service level commitments.
• Apply Your Expertise
• Utilize DU, LPA, FHA TOTAL Scorecard, and other investor underwriting systems.
• Provide guidance to loan originators and operations staff on loan structure and investor eligibility requirements.
• Communicate underwriting decisions, conditions, and documentation requirements clearly and professionally.

• Maintain current knowledge of FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, jumbo, and state housing guidelines.

• Ensure all underwriting decisions meet investor, agency, regulatory, and company requirements.
• Identify and elevate potential credit, compliance, operational, and fraud risks.
• Assist with audits, regulatory examinations, and quality control initiatives.
• Maintain a high level of loan quality while meeting production expectations.

• Partner with loan originators, processors, closers, investors, and business partners to facilitate efficient loan delivery.

• Contribute to process improvements, technology enhancements, and departmental best practices.
• Support operational goals through teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

• 5-7 years of progressive residential mortgage underwriting experience.
• Strong experience underwriting conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, portfolio, construction, and renovation loans.
• Advanced knowledge of income analysis, tax returns, asset review, credit evaluation, and mortgage compliance.
• Experience with delegated underwriting authority and mortgage loan originating systems.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment.

• FHA Direct Endorsement (DE) Certification.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• MA Housing and/or RI Housing underwriting experience.
