Accounts and Tax Associate

Are you an experienced Accounts and Tax Associate looking for a broader practice role covering accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, tax and Making Tax Digital?

This is a strong opportunity to join a well-established accountancy firm in Swansea, supporting a varied client base while continuing to build your technical knowledge and confidence with client work.

As an Accounts and Tax Associate, you’ll help prepare year-end accounts, VAT returns, bookkeeping records and basic tax computations. You’ll work closely with senior colleagues, take ownership of sections of work and learn how to spot issues early before files go for review.

• Preparing accounts, reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Working on bookkeeping, VAT returns and Making Tax Digital records
• Reconciling VAT, payroll, turnover and tax balances
• Supporting corporation tax computations and common tax adjustments
• Reviewing Companies House information and filing requirements
• Communicating with clients to request information and handle basic queries
• Identifying errors, older balances or unusual items for manager review

• Previous experience in an accountancy practice
• Good knowledge of accounts preparation, bookkeeping and VAT
• Experience with cloud accounting software, ideally Xero
• Awareness of Making Tax Digital and basic corporation tax
• Strong attention to detail and a steady, organised approach
• Confidence speaking with clients and escalating issues when needed
• Studying towards AAT, ACA or ACCA, or qualified by experience
