Position: Money Advice Assistant

About the Money Advice Service

The Money Advice service is a proactive, student-focused service, which operates within the Support and Retention division of the Student Life Directorate. The service simplifies financial management for students, promotes financial literacy, and provides tailored advice and support to empower students to navigate financial challenges with confidence.

Role Overview

The Money Advice Assistant role provides essential administrative support within a busy, student-facing team, offering specialist knowledge and triaging of complex student funding queries. The postholder will act as an initial point of contact for day-to-day student money issues, initiating action involving or referring to Money
- Student Life advisors, Manager and/or other services where appropriate. The role will handle enquiries from students, staff and other contacts across a range of mediums in a professional manner, establishing their requirements and responding in a timely fashion. The assistant will help resolve funding and hardship fund queries, identify and triage complex questions, and pass them to the correct members of the wider Money
- Student Life team for further action. The assistant will monitor the service’s email in‑boxes to ensure response targets are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Money Advice team members and Student Life colleagues to refine processes and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with key contacts to improve service levels.
  • Perform administrative duties, including data monitoring.
  • Draft and record meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Update administrative systems and databases with accurate information and provide detailed activity reports such as team KPIs.
  • Compile weekly reports on relevant budgetary expenditure and activity.
  • Gather and collate service user feedback.
  • Assist the Money
    - Student Life team in developing and delivering welcome, social and engagement activities.
