About the Role

A Lead Content Designer is an expert practitioner responsible for setting standards, mentoring colleagues, and leading content design and user-centered design (UCD) approaches across multiple teams or complex services. They work autonomously, influence stakeholders, and ensure high-quality, user-focused content that aligns with client objectives and meets accessibility standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the overall UCD approach within your service team.
  • Ensure the quality of content delivery and set Made Tech’s design standards.
  • Produce high-quality, user-focused content.
  • Facilitate shared understanding of problems and testing ideas within teams.
  • Ensure services are accessible to all users.
  • Meet the government Service Standard through content and design best practices.
  • Demonstrate good content sharing and improvement habits.
  • Manage content across multiple channels and oversee its effectiveness.
  • Build client relationships and understand their needs.
  • Support business development through UCD expertise in bids.
  • Identify skill gaps and support team development.
  • Lead or support hiring and onboarding of designers.
  • Promote a healthy, supportive community of practice.
  • Represent content design internally and publicly.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
    • Experience in delivering good public services.
    • Ability to identify new business opportunities.
    • Proven case studies of designing and delivering successful public services.
    • Commitment to growing and maintaining a vibrant UCD community.
