An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised professional to join a growing construction consultancy specialising in Construction Design & Management (CDM), Principal Designer services, Health & Safety and Building Regulations.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across the residential, commercial, education, healthcare and public sectors, supporting clients, designers and contractors to deliver safe, compliant and well-coordinated construction projects.

Whilst previous CDM Consultant experience would be advantageous, we are equally interested in speaking with candidates from backgrounds such as Architectural Technology, Design Coordination, Site Management, Project Management or Health & Safety, who possess the right attitude, communication skills and desire to develop within CDM consultancy.

Full support and ongoing professional development will be provided for candidates looking to build a long-term career within Principal Design and CDM.

The Role

Working alongside an experienced team of consultants, you will support clients throughout the pre-construction phase, ensuring projects comply with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 while helping identify, eliminate and manage foreseeable design and construction risks.

You'll be responsible for coordinating information between clients, architects, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders, ensuring projects progress safely and efficiently from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering Principal Designer and CDM Consultancy services across multiple construction projects.
  • Coordinate communication between clients, designers and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review designs and identify foreseeable health and safety risks.
  • Participate in Design Risk Reviews and support the implementation of safe design principles.
  • Prepare and manage Pre-Construction Information (PCI), Health & Safety Files and other CDM documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project records and ensure documentation remains compliant and up to date.
  • Attend design team meetings, project meetings and site visits where required.
  • Provide practical advice on CDM Regulations 2015 and Principal Designer duties.
  • Support clients in meeting their statutory responsibilities under CDM legislation.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients and project teams.
  • Assist with project planning, coordination and risk management activities.
  • Work across multiple projects while maintaining excellent organisation and attention to detail.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience with in the construction industry in one of the following disciplines:
  • CDM Consultancy
  • Principal Designer
  • Architectural Technology
  • Design Coordination
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working with clients and project teams.
  • A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and understand construction and design risks.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
  • Experience producing technical reports or project documentation.
  • Membership of APS, IOSH, CIOB or a similar professional body.
  • Degree, HNC or HND in Construction, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with in Principal Designer or CDM Consultancy.
  • Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations
