AboutThe Role
With our world‑class research centres and more than £500m investment into a new Bay Campus infrastructure, the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Swansea University stands out as one of the best centres of excellence in the country. Our outstanding research and teaching environment supports nationally and internationally important areas of research and teaching across a broad range of Physical Sciences and Engineering.
The faculty plays a strong role in delivering the university’s international strategy and is actively strengthening its transnational education offerings.
We are looking for a candidate to join a leading UK research‑led university and faculty at the start of an exciting partnership. The post holder will follow an enhanced research academic pathway and so candidates will have a track record of successful research in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, or Electrical & Electronic Engineering commensurate with appointment at the lecturer level.
Applications from candidates with research areas related to sustainable energy and pathways to net zero are particularly welcomed. Applicants should have experience of teaching chemical engineering, materials science and engineering, electrical & electronic engineering subjects including laboratories.
The successful applicant will spend approximately two six‑week blocks per year teaching intensively on our partner’s campus at Nanjing Tech University in China. The remainder of the time will be spent conducting research at the Swansea Bay Campus with the option of spending time at the Nanjing Tech Campus conducting collaborative research projects or supervising PhD students.

The Welsh language level required for this role is Level 1 – a little. The role holder will be able to pronounce Welsh words, answer the phone in Welsh (good morning/afternoon) and use very basic everyday words and phrases (thank you, please, etc.). Level 1 can be reached by completing a 1‑hour course.
