Overview
Gower College Swansea is one of the largest colleges in Wales with a strong reputation for high quality teaching and learning. We have six campuses across the city with over 4,500 full time learners and 10,000 part time learners. Responsibilities- Deliver a range of units across Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 Advance into Further Education which supports those learners who are undecided about their career path and are at risk of becoming NEET due to previous engagement issues with education.
- Develop and employ a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including the effective use of ILT, to ensure excellence and the achievement of course targets for retention and attainment.
- Motivate students and to create a positive learning environment and support a learner's potential.
- Undertake a personal tutor role which will require liaising with external support agencies and parents/guardians.
- Be willing to take on additional departmental duties such as planning and organising trips, encouraging learner engagement with cross college enterprise events and integrating Welsh culture and language into lessons.
- Qualified to degree level with experience.
- Possess/or be prepared to work towards a recognised teaching qualification.
- Experience of delivering Advance into FE programmes is desirable.
- Possess excellent classroom management skills coupled with the tenacity, commitment and patience to deal with learners who may display challenging behaviour.
- Be able to adapt your teaching style to meet the needs of a variety of different age groups.
- 46 days annual leave (pro-rata), plus bank holidays, and the college is closed for two weeks over the Christmas period.
