Location:

Full time starting salary is normally in the range £36,636 to £46,049 with potential progression once in post to £48,822

Grade: 7

Full Time, Fixed Term contract up to August 2030

Background

The Training Fellow will be responsible for the management, co-coordination and delivery of Centre-UB’s training programme. This will involve working closely with the Training Director (Prof Vicky Goodyear), the CDT+ Director, Centre Manager and Leadership and Training Boards, who will provide strategic oversight and guidance.

Role Summary

Develop, deliver and evaluate training provided to PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, and an external partner network from the public and private sector

Contribute to the leadership of Centre-UB, through evaluation and reporting, marketing and communications, representing Centre-UB within UoB and externally, impact and income generation, training events, public engagement and through fostering collaboration with Government Skills and

Contribute to generating funding by designing CPD programmes for clients external to the University and who are partners of Centre-UB.

Main Duties

  • Plan, prepare and deliver training sessions to a range of postgraduate audiences (including, doctoral and post-doctoral students, and external professionals and practitioners) related to behavioural science and/or wider research competencies, in line with the objective of the Centre-UB training strategy
  • Lead the planning of content and pedagogy for training related events (including, challenge days and roadshows)
  • Contribute to the development, design and delivery of training content (webinars, masterclasses, CPD) with other colleagues across the university and from Centre-UB’s external partner network
  • Plan and prepare own teaching (e.g., network sessions), including guidance notes, flyers/handouts and pre-course materials in accordance with the training objectives of Centre-UB
  • Evaluate doctoral and post-doctoral training needs, and provide feedback on training provision
  • Evaluate Centre-UB’s training strategy and provision on an on-going basis, and provide specialist advice and guidance on methods to improve Centre-UB ’s training effectiveness
  • Work collaboratively with Centre-UB’s leadership members in relation to: (a) working with Government Skills and  
    -UK to map external partner network needs; (b) working with Centre-UB EDI lead to design and implement the EDI training strategy; (c) work with the Centre-UB manager to support the communications and marketing of training
  • Represent Centre-UB by participating in relevant meetings, committees, networking events, and/or professional groups, within UoB and externally
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer on own specialism that is of manifest benefit to the College and the University, often under supervision of a project leader
  • Contribute to Centre-UB teaching-related activities and teaching-related administration
  • Contribute to enterprise, business development and/or public engagement activities of manifest benefit to Centre-UB , the College and the University, often under supervision of the centre’s directors
  • Promote equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture
  • Undertake personal professional development in teaching, including self-reflection on own teaching, using student and peer review feedback, to enhance own teaching and learning processes
  • Develop an approach to planning and reviewing own teaching
  • Frequently update own subject expertise.
