Position
TLTP are recruiting for a Primary SEMH Teacher who has experience in teaching a range of subjects to KS2. This school is based in Barking East London. Starts ASAP.
About the SchoolThis is a secondary school which caters for children with SEBD, ASD and SEMH. If you have some SEN experience then please do apply. Special needs Teachers will need to have Primary Teaching Experience.
Responsibilities- Deliver a primary school model of education.
- Be responsible for the progress of all pupils in a range of subjects.
- Coordinate the work of a team of Therapeutic Education Practitioners (Learning Mentors) while providing required direct teaching time to meet the needs of the class groups and pupils.
- Look at pupils holistically, drawing on a wide range of social care and teaching strategies to meet pupil needs whilst promoting interest and ensuring the safety and well‑being of pupils.
- Deliver lessons that are pupil‑focused and creative, according to an agreed timetable, including cover lessons when necessary.
- Provide opportunities for pupils to experience/understand a range of subjects.
- Differentiating the National Curriculum to meet the needs of ASC/SEMH pupils and devising Individual Education Behaviour and Integration Plans (IEBIP) with appropriate SMART targets and actions.
- Help identify pupils in need of specific intervention and support, in consultation with the SLT, PCC, clinical team and Therapeutic Education Practitioners (Learning Mentors), and support the provision and monitoring of one‑to‑one and small group programmes.
- Special needs Teachers must be committed to the development of both themselves and the pupils in their class.
- Special needs Teachers must have QTS or QTLS.
- Deliver outstanding teaching and learning alongside a multi‑disciplinary classroom team.
- Ensure that pupils fulfil their potential and maintain ambitious expectations.
- Maintain a calm demeanour and sense of humour under pressure.
- Understand and be committed to safeguarding children.
- A committed and enthusiastic staff and governors.
- Quality professional development.
