About The Role

The School of Health and Social Care is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Lecturer to join the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) team. The primary focus of this role will be to support the delivery and ongoing development of the SCPHN Health Visiting programme.

The post holder will contribute to teaching across SCPHN modules and related community and public health nursing provision, supporting shared learning, interprofessional collaboration and the development of practitioners working with children, families and communities. The role may also involve contributing to teaching and student support across the Department of Nursing within undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development modules.

The successful candidate will contribute to high quality teaching, assessment, curriculum development and student supervision. The role requires strong clinical credibility in health visiting and public health nursing practice, alongside the ability to support registered nurses undertaking specialist community public health roles. The post holder will work collaboratively with academic colleagues, practice partners and professional bodies to ensure programmes meet regulatory, professional and workforce requirements across Wales.

Duties and Responsibilities

The post holder will:

  • Deliver teaching across undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing professional development programmes relevant to SCPHN, health visiting and public health nursing
  • Contribute to module leadership and programme delivery within the SCPHN Health Visiting programme and related community and public health provision
  • Support innovative teaching approaches including simulation, case-based learning, digital delivery and community-focused learning activities
  • Undertake assessment, marking and provision of constructive feedback in line with University regulations
  • Provide academic support, supervision and personal tutoring to students
  • Support practice learning through engagement with practice supervisors, practice assessors, academic assessors and employer partners
  • Contribute to curriculum development to ensure alignment with NMC SCPHN standards, HEIW frameworks, public health priorities and workforce requirements
  • Participate in quality assurance processes including programme evaluation, monitoring and review
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with NHS organisations, local authorities, public health services and community partners
  • Engage in scholarship, research or professional development activity relevant to health visiting, child and family public health or community nursing practice
  • Support student recruitment, retention and progression initiatives
  • Undertake administrative and academic duties as required within the School

£39,355 to £45,413 per annum
