Adult Learning Wales

We have a fantastic opportunity for an hourly paid Tutor to deliver ESOL courses in Swansea from September 2026. You will plan, develop, deliver, evaluate and assess courses and learning programmes in accordance with learner needs and Adult Learning Wales’s Quality Procedures, in support of delivering high quality learning.

The Tutor role is a diverse, hands on role where you will be working independently and also with the regional team.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and preparing courses – preparing lesson plans and schemes of work. Selecting learning materials and a range of learning methods to meet the learner’s needs.
  • Supporting learners – Assessing learners’ previous learning experiences and achievements, providing them with appropriate advice and guidance, and ensuring learners are aware of their progression routes.
  • General – undertake administrative tasks in line with regulations for the funding of Adult Learning Wales. Attend relevant tutor meetings, quality briefings and relevant accreditation / moderation meetings.
Hours & Schedule
  • Hours:

    16 hours per week (term time only)
  • Timetable:
    Monday – 9.30am – 1.30pm;
    Tuesday – 9.30am – 1.30pm;
    Wednesday – 9.30am – 1.30pm;
    Thursday – 9.30am – 1.30pm
  • Delivery method:
    Face to Face
  • Contract:

    Hourly paid contract, fixed term for academic year to July 2027
  • Delivery start date:
    Monday 7th September (Learning & Development Week) with teaching starting on Monday 14th September
  • Classes to be taught:
    Entry Level 3 (Ascentis and Agored Cymru)

Recruitment and Selection Process
  • Interviews will take place on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd July. As part of the interview process you will be asked to deliver a 15 minute microteach session, and to provide a lesson plan, scheme of work, and any resources for this session.
