Deputy Headteacher

Sea View Primary School is a proud community school in Mayhill, Swansea, known for its happy and vibrant environment for pupils and families. We prioritise well‑being and work closely with parents, carers and the wider community to ensure every child feels valued, safe and happy.

The role of Deputy Headteacher is to support the Headteacher in delivering an outstanding whole‑school learning environment. The successful candidate will have a strong teaching background, proven leadership experience and a track record of strategic planning and improvement.

Post Requires
  • An excellent classroom practitioner and a willing leader in teaching and learning development.
  • Analytical skill to summarise pupil data and monitor progress.
  • High digital competency (Google Suite, Excel, Teams, Hwb SharePoint).
  • Strategic focus and a significant role in the school’s direction.
  • Ability to produce evaluative reports and deliver impactful presentations.
  • Deputising experience gained from managing a busy school.
  • Understanding of restorative practice and positive behavioural frameworks.
  • Strong character, resilience and humour that motivates pupils and staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining a broad range of extra‑curricular activities.
  • Patience, kindness and empathy towards pupils, staff, governors, parents and the local community.
  • Decisiveness under pressure and willingness to take risks.
  • In‑depth understanding of self‑evaluation, school improvement and curriculum transformation in line with the Curriculum for Wales 2022.
  • A vision to become a Headteacher in the future.

Start date:

1 January 2027 (or as soon as possible).

Safeguarding and DBS

Applicants must hold an enhanced DBS check and be registered with the Employment Welfare Commission. All staff are required to keep up to date with safeguarding training and to commit to the school’s safeguarding policies.
