Specialist Teaching Assistants – Primary ALN Units

Swansea | £14.25 per hour | Full & Part-Time Opportunities

Are you a passionate, patient and resilient Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with Additional Learning Needs (ALN)?

We are looking for Specialist Teaching Assistants to support pupils within Primary School ALN Units across Swansea. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals who can build positive relationships, provide consistent support and help children overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role

As a Specialist TA, you will work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils academically, socially and emotionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support within ALN units
Supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs and other ALN
Helping children engage positively with learning and classroom activities
Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and independence
Supporting pupils to develop their social skills, confidence and communication
Implementing behaviour support strategies and de-escalation techniques
Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtimes and enrichment activities
Helping learners develop resilience and overcome barriers to learning
Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff and pastoral teams
Creating a calm, nurturing and structured environment where pupils can thrive
About the Learners

The pupils you support may present with a range of needs, including:

Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
ADHD and attention difficulties
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Anxiety and low confidence
Emotional regulation difficulties
Challenging behaviour
Trauma and adverse childhood experiences
Communication and social difficulties
Engagement and attendance barriers
Additional Learning Needs (ALN)
You don't need experience of every area. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and genuine passion for supporting children are just as important.
