About

The Role

The Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences is seeking an experienced, innovative Senior Lecturer (Welsh Language Senior Simulation Educator) to join the Simulation and Immersive Learning Centre (SUSIM). This Grade 9 academic post is offered on a three-year fixed-term basis on the Education & Research (Education) pathway.

Working within a programme led by Professor Joanne Davies, you will collaborate with SUSIM, Faculty and our Welsh language teams, the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol, HEIW and NHS partners to expand and embed Welsh-medium and bilingual simulation-based education. You will design, deliver, assess and evaluate uni- and interprofessional simulation, OSCE activity, IRIS scenarios and the Active Offer; mentor faculty; and contribute to research, scholarship, quality improvement and systems learning.

Your principal activities will include:

  • Developing, piloting and evaluating Welsh-medium and bilingual curricula and scenarios.
  • Facilitating simulations and debriefings through Welsh and English.
  • Mentoring faculty and developing 4–6 co-leads, subject to staffing capacity.
  • Embedding the Active Offer and ASPiH and HEIW standards.
  • Undertaking research, scholarship, quality assurance and impact evaluation.
  • Deliver and report on KPI’s linked to a 3-year CCC Welsh language simulation education plan.

Welsh language Level 3 (fluent) is essential on appointment. You will also hold a relevant master’s degree, recognised teaching qualification and current professional registration, and bring senior clinical education and simulation experience plus recognised simulation educator certification or equivalent experience.

You will help deliver three years of establishment and piloting; expansion and capacity building; and the normalisation and sustainability of provision.
