Process Engineer, Systems Engineer, Environmental Engineer
Role summary:
We are seeking an experienced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Specialist to provide technical modelling expertise within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. The role will support the delivery of fluid flow, heat transfer, ventilation, and process modelling studies that contribute to engineering design, operational performance, risk reduction, and safety justification activities. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering and technical teams to deliver high-quality modelling outputs, technical assessments, and evidence-based recommendations.
Whatyou will be doing:
Deliver CFD modelling and simulation studies to support engineering projects and operational challenges.
Perform analysis of fluid flow, heat transfer, ventilation, and related physical processes.
Support investigations involving multiphase systems, including gas-liquid, solid-liquid, and slurry flow applications.
Conduct studies involving gas dispersion, combustion, aerosol generation, and other complex flow phenomena.
Develop modelling approaches to support design optimisation, performance improvement, and risk reduction initiatives.
Produce technical reports, modelling documentation, and presentation materials for a range of stakeholders.
Define modelling assumptions, limitations, uncertainties, and validation requirements.
Ensure modelling activities are fully documented, traceable, and reproducible.
Work collaboratively with engineers, scientists, and project teams to integrate modelling outputs into wider project objectives.
Undertake feasibility studies, rapid assessments, and proof-of-concept analyses where required.
Provide technical advice on the appropriate application and interpretation of CFD methodologies.
Support continuous improvement in modelling capability, tools, and best practice.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related engineering/scientific discipline.
Demonstrable experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics modelling and analysis.
Experience using industry-standard CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, or equivalent.
Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, heat transfer, turbulence modelling, and numerical simulation techniques.
Experience working within regulated, safety-critical, or high-hazard industries would be advantageous.
Knowledge of model verification, validation, sensitivity analysis, and quality assurance processes.
Ability to prepare clear technical reports, presentations, and supporting documentation.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to manage workload independently and deliver high-quality outputs with minimal supervision.
Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams and collaborating with technical specialists.
