Senior / Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer (Contract)

Looking to lead impactful building services projects across South Wales? A world-class engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior or Principal Mechanical Contract Engineer to join their growing team in Cardiff and Swansea. This is a 12-month contract offering long-term project stability, flexible/hybrid working, and a highly collaborative team environment.

  • Role: Senior / Principal Mechanical Building Services Engineer
  • Contract Duration: 12 Months (July 2026 – July 2027)
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Technical Leadership: Lead mechanical specifications, equipment schedules, and complex HVAC (heating, cooling, ventilation) calculations.
  • Project Delivery: Take ownership of project deliverables, manage project budgets, and oversee end-to-end design delivery.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Lead client briefings, represent the business at meetings with contractors, and conduct site surveys/progress reviews.
  • Digital Engineering: Produce detailed calculations using tools like IES, HEVACOMP, NBS, and Revit in collaboration with global technology centers.
  • Mentorship: Assist in the growth and technical development of junior engineers in the team.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education & Chartership: Degree in Building Services Engineering (or equivalent). CIBSE/IMechE Chartered status (or actively working towards it) is strongly preferred.
  • Consultancy

    Experience:

    Proven track record working within a design consultancy or contractor design environment with deep knowledge of UK technical standards.
  • Software Tools: Hands-on experience with IES, HEVACOMP, NBS, and Revit.
  • Sustainability: CIBSE Low Carbon Consultant (LCC) qualification is highly desirable.
