The role This role supports Natural Resources Wales (NRW) to operate in a more environmentally sustainable way by providing specialist advice, analysis, and reporting on environmental performance. The postholder will play a key role in helping to reduce environmental impacts and carbon emissions, supporting NRW's environmental audit plans, and maintaining systems aligned with recognised environmental management standards. Based within the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate, the role operates across the organisation, building effective working relationships to promote best practice, influence behaviours, and drive continuous environmental improvement.

Reporting to the Internal Audit and Environmental Management System Manager, the postholder will not have line management responsibility but will be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy in managing their workload and priorities. The role is primarily office-based with flexible working arrangements. However, there is a requirement to travel to undertake in-person audits. As some locations are not accessible by public transport, a full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Any regular face to face meetings or training will be planned in advance. Help to support our EMS (Environmental Management System) audit plan. Help maintain our internal environment management system and, certification to the ISO
14001 environmental standard. Report on our environmental performance, including in our WG net zero report. Establish relationships across the organisation to develop a culture of minimising the environmental impacts of our work. Support the investigation of any environmental incidents. Encourage and facilitate a culture of reducing our carbon footprint and encouraging the nest environmental performance across the organisation. Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy , together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (known as Sgwrs).

Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role. Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method. Knowledge of Environmental Management systems, auditing EMS performance and hold or be working towards an Environmental Management qualification. Good, broad knowledge of NRW and its functions to understand how best to improve NRW's environmental performance across all its work areas.

Previous experience of running environmental audits. Effective partnership development and negotiation skills. Ability to analyse and present environmental information and write concise audit reports with clear recommendations. Able to work as part of other teams with a range of skills and specialisms. Welsh Language level requirements Essential:
