Asset Performance Engineer

Location: Wales

The role As an Engineer within our Asset Performance team, you will play a key role in helping protect communities and the environment from flood risk across North Wales. Using asset data, technical analysis and evidence-based decision making, you will help shape current and future flood risk management investment, ensuring our flood defence assets continue to perform effectively. Working closely with operational teams and stakeholders, you will contribute to sustainable, long-term solutions that support resilient communities and ecosystems.

In everything you do, you will embed the principles of Sustainable Management of Natural Resources (SMNR) and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act, helping to create lasting benefits for both people and the environment. Driving is essential to this role as you will be required to attend professional partner meetings and visit on-site & construction site visits regularly You must hold a full and current UK driving license.

As an organisation we support flexible working. You will be contracted to one of the NRW office at the above location and a suitable hybrid working pattern will be agreed on appointment. Help ensure that local decisions are consistent and are risk based and in line with agreed Government approach. Assist in maintaining the National Flood Risk Asset Management System, AMX and associated flood risk data. Collect data from sources as required to help analyse flood risk asset management need. Support Operations Teams to enable delivery of the Asset Maintenance programme by providing relevant information.

Assist in the preparation of pre-feasibility studies resulting from Flood Risk Management Plans and Shoreline Management Plans. Support Health and Safety best practice by actively promoting awareness and ensuring the provision of safe working practices to comply with NRW's policy and standards. Required to take part in incident response activities. Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role. Your qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a scientific or engineering subject is desirable, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.

Knowledge of flood risk management activities and understanding of wider approaches to river and coastal asset management. Basic knowledge of ICT. Knowledge of GIS systems and CAD (e.g. ARCGIS, AutoCAD). Some knowledge of Health and Safety and relevant regulations e.g. Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM) would be an advantage. Must have full UK driving licence.
