Job Description & How to Apply Below

Do you want to own a whole product, not just one part of it?

Our client is an established technology company in Swansea. They design and build their own products in house and sell them internationally. They now need a NPD Project Manager to lead a new product from first definition through to production. You will lead a team of mechanical, electronics and software engineers through influence and clear decisions, not line management.

What you will do
  • Lead a new product from definition through design, validation and production transfer.
  • Own the project plan, budget, milestones, priorities and risks.
  • Run project meetings and keep tasks, dependencies and decisions on track.
  • Make sure the project passes each stage gate on time.
  • Own key documents such as product requirements, risk assessments, DFMEA and validation plans.
  • Turn customer requirements into clear scope and manage changes.
  • Agree resources with engineering Heads and work with the Chief Engineer on technical issues.
  • Be the main Development contact for the customer and lead project reviews.
  • Capture lessons learned to improve future projects.
What you will bring
  • Strong experience leading complex new product development from concept to launch.
  • A track record of leading teams across several engineering disciplines.
  • Experience writing technical documentation, especially risk assessments and requirement specifications.
  • Strong planning, risk, budget and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
  • Sound judgement when balancing time, cost, quality and risk.
  • Confidence with customers, senior leaders and technical specialists.
  • An engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
It would help if you have
  • Relevant experience in a regulated industry (i.e. automotive, aerospace, medical, defence etc.)
  • Strong experience taking complex, electromechanical products through the whole development lifcycle.
  • Experience running projects for international customers or OEM partners.
  • Experience with high-volume manufacturing and global supply chains.
  • A project management qualification.
