Role Overview
Red Balloons is a lived experience Charity. Everyone involved has lived experience of poor mental health and we use that to support others. Our Peer Support services are free and open to anyone who is over 18 and struggling with their mental health. We offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can talk about how you feel but there is never any pressure.
Feel free to contact us if you need any further information.
We are governed by a Board of up to nine Trustees, who are generous in giving their time to the organization. They set Red Balloons’ strategic direction, annual budget, and monitor progress at quarterly meetings. Our Trustees have a wealth of knowledge and experience between them, which is invaluable in providing support and direction to the staff team, led by the highly experienced Leigh Trimble, CEO of Red Balloons.
Responsibilities- Four Board meetings year
- Advice to the Board and CEO on financial matters, and in particular on the financial information presented to the Board.
- Contribution to Board meetings on all matters relating to the governance of Red Balloons.
- Answers to queries from the CEO and Board members between meetings – unlikely to be frequent, but it will be helpful to have a Treasurer who is available to reply to emails periodically.
- We are now looking for someone with some background in managing an organisation’s finances, or in accountancy. Formal financial qualifications are not essential – more importanly, we need someone who is used setting and managing budgets, reading and interpreting accounts, and who can advise the Board and CEO. The accounts and financial systems are produced by the staff team and external contractors.
The Treasurer would have a role in overseeing this. - Team player
